Picnic Lunch at Heritage Park

This peaceful downtown park, along North Eighth Street, offers a walking path through landscaped flower beds and shade trees, is located next to city hall and gives you the perfect opportunity to visit the circa-1848 Larkin Newton Log Cabin. This location is perfect for a midday picnic and has all the right aesthetics for photo ops!

Mockingbird Nature Park

Cheerful butterflies dance in this garden filled with orange roses, lavender carnations, and bells of Ireland. Mockingbird Nature Park otherwise known as Butterfly Garden, is a 62-acre park that showcases Midlothian’s natural surroundings. It includes a hiking trail that winds past the butterfly garden, a pond, native grass area and boxes for nesting bluebirds.

Texplex Park

If you’re up to capturing some heart-pounding adventures, then TexPlex Park is well suited for individuals and families looking to go offroading for a weekend, full day, or just a couple of hours. The offroad park provides a lot of different tracks for varying vehicles: UTV, motorcycle, motocross, Trophy Trucks, ATV, Kids bikes, which is an exciting way to create memories spend for all ages.

Chapman Park

What’s most fascinating about this park is that it contains a spaceship-themed playground that is out of this world! Perfect for taking fun and playing up and away! Chapman Park is 13 acres and is nestled between the fine homes of the neighborhood and bordered by Little Creek. It provides a mile-long walking path with a connection to Little Creek Trail, which is perfect for a romantic stroll to connect with your beau.

Waxahachie Creek Hike & Bike Trail

This trail currently stretches four miles from Getzendaner Park to Lions Park to Lions Park. It’s known for its scenic views, connections to various natural habitats, and entrances to a mountain bike trail, perfect for those who are most adventurous! 

An excellent walking trail filled with many opportunities for nature photos, selfies to capture beautiful memories with your sweetheart. The numerous shade trees and historic Chautauqua Auditorium make this a scenic view for residents and visitors alike. This park offers three playgrounds, two restrooms, three pavilions, and parking.
